Sales Tips 101

Sales Tips 101

What are you selling? You should ask yourself this question before you sell the product or service. For example, am I selling a high end pen or am I selling the prestige of using a high end pen? Should I start going on and on about how great the pen is or should I ask questions to the buyer to gauge why they are looking for a pen?

Asking questions and interacting with your buyer is important in order to narrow down the “reasons” why they want to buy your product or service. Once you narrow down the main reasons they are interested in, you then tailor the features and benefits to those “reasons”.

For example, if you are in car sales, its important of course to find out what type of car and what features of a car they are looking for. If the buyer is looking for a compact sports car that is fuel efficient, then you show them the cars which “fit” these “features”, and you explain to them why the “features” of those cars will “benefit” them. This is the basic building block of sales.

  • Finding out what the buyer is looking for
  • Matching the product to the buyer’s interest
  • Tailoring the features and benefits to those specific to what the buyer is looking for
  • Close the sale!!
