Basic Management Tips
Are you a brand new manager? Are you just starting out as a manager? Were you just promoted? Well this article is for you. Here are some basic management tips for you to get started with. Feel free to print it out or use the cheat sheet bullet points below.
Listen to your staff
Having a keen eye and an open ear to your staff is key. Gathering information about the workday and the dynamics between your employees is essential to spotting potential rifts or conflicts that may arise. Also notice who works good together and pair them together, if such a situation arises.
Be approachable
Being an approachable manager is important to being a collaborative one. Do you want the staff to fear you? To avoid you? To loathe you? Of course not. You want to them to be able to come to you if they need help, or if there is an issue.
Build up your staff
What is the mark of a great player in pro basketball?
The mark is he leads and make’s the players around him better, or elevates their game. As a manager you should try and build those around you, especially your staff. Make them better, train them, focus on them and manage them through the workdays, weeks and months. Perhaps you can hold weekly or monthly trainings, to help improve them. Perhaps you can give them motivational cd’s and or courses on cd or even a good YouTube video on how to improve their jobs, etc. They will love ou for it.

Treat everyone equally
Do not discriminate against race, creed, religion, orientation, etc.
