Management Tips: Policies & Procedures

In the busy technologically advanced world we live In today, there are many distractions and things which can take our employees attention away from their daily tasks. For this reason, it is imperative that a good manager have a good written policy and procedure reference document handy. This document should cover the basic policies which include, daily task expectations. Weekly goals, overall goals. Discipline procedures, daily routine objectives, monthly overall goals, etc.

For example, if you are managing a call center with 20 + telemarketers, having a policies document outlining the amount of calls they should make in one shift, the amount of warm leads taken and potential leads interacted with. Having a policy such as this would give the employees a reference point and an overall expectations/goals to strive for. They say shoot for the stars you just might just land on the moon.

Additionally, reminding the staff of certain rules on the policy document is also a good idea. For example , limited use of the cell phones and social media during working hours. Limited internet and casual internet browsing during working hours as well. This reference point document will give you an overall reference point to refer back to in case any confusion arises about the employees job expectations and goals. Thus having a reference point document such as a policy and procedures document is a great idea and a great starting point for your management success.
